First there was the Dunwich Dynamo. Now there is the Douthat Dynamo.

First there was the Dunwich Dynamo. Now there is the Douthat Dynamo.

Depart Harrisonburg Court Square 22:00, Friday, 8 September. Double vision optional, night vision required.

Arrive Douthat State Park sometime on Saturday, 9 September (unless you can ride 45+ mph at night for two hours).

Warm windowlight from west Rockingham farmhouses. Stars winking above the GW. Deerfield Valley Road by moonlight. HIDs and LEDs everywhere! Sunrise on the shore of Douthat Lake (or wherever you find yourself at 06:55).

No fees, no equipment requirements, no sag, no check-ins or –outs, and most importantly, no doping controls. You and your bike are in your own hands. Maybe one self-help station (that’s a low-tech aid station for the self-reliant) along the way, plus any country stores you can find to serve you between 22:00 and 07:00.

Catch a ride home in the van if you reserve in advance; alternatively, flip the cue sheet upside down and get movin’!

Bikes must belong to one of five categories:

-Fixies.

-Lugged.

-Noisemaking ornaments.

-Two or more of above.

-Everything else.
